Ah, the internet.
It really is amazing.
Take the story of a band called Nice Peter.
Their lead singer, Pete Shukoff, was wasting
away in his apartment, drinking and smoking
himself into oblivion, or working thirteen
hour shifts, in an effort to get as far away
as possible from music.
You see, Pete, as he's known,
was burnt the fuck out.
So, you would think in this state
of complete downtime, that no
progress would be made in Nice Peter's career.
In comes the internet.
Pete posted a video of his song, 50 Cent is a Pussy,
on Youtube.com, just for kicks.
Nothing really happened,
it got some hits, but no big deal.
Then, this morning,
someone posted a link
on the hip hop website:
www.allhiphop.com
Suddenly, some crazy shit
breaks loose.
The Youtube video gets 7,000 hits in two hours.
Pete gets a call from his agent, his drummer,
and the editor from AllHipHop.com,
he wants an interview.
Sweet.
Pete gets a call from his friend Jacobi in NY City,
someone heard the song on the radio there.
Pete didn't even know he had a recording of that song, yet,
but....
Whatever, its cool.
Pete is taking it in stride.
Now, Pete has always been white.
He's a white boy to the core.
He has a few black friends,
but not as many as he wants.
Not as many as he had in high school,
he went to a very well mixed high school.
In fact, the first female hand
to touch his white-boy privates
was chocolate like an M&M
That's another story.
Now, Pete has more black friends than ever,
on Myspace.com
He received a flood of friend requests
from Myspacers of color with names like
Kulcha Knock and Kuddie Mac.

He loves it.
Pete feels great.
He likes to think his
music can reach out to all races.
We can make of the Bush, together.
We can Smoke That Weed, together.
And most importantly, we
can stand up and say,
"you know what? 50 Cent is kind of a pussy"
together.
Now, Pete has noticed some
people posting very angry,
and poorly spelled, comments
on the Youtube page.
He would like to say this:
"it's just a fucking song"
and this:
"please don't shoot anybody"
Tonight,
Pete is popping a Ritalin pill,
skipping out on work,
and heading into the studio
to get "50 Cent" layed down
properly, it's about damned time.
It will be done tonight.
No matter how it comes out.
And it will be the first single,
off a new album, which will
probably be done before 2010,
hopefully.
